A/P Snuff

Latakia tobacco, so smokey flavour with pine undertones. Dark, medium-coarse mill, medium-dry. Strong and very tasty!

I am in love with all of the Molens de Kralingse snuffs that I have tried. The AP is one of the top ones on my list. The scent of the pine forest lingers much longer than other snuffs I have tried and there is also a rich tobacco scent that stay and stays.

This is a snuff that will always have a place in my snuff cabinet.

My first snuff that uses the Latakia style of tobacco in it's base, the A/P is a snuff that has Character with a capitol C!

A/P apparently stands for Abies/Pinus, Latin for Spruce/Pine. The Latakia represents a particular method of smoking the whole tobacco leaf after it has been dried for flavoring.

The end result in this case is a dark brown, medium to coarse grind, slightly moist powerhouse. The immediate inhalation presents a strong fresh pine scent. No similarity to certain cleaning products at all! This to me is the smell of the kerf from a fresh cut tree, the yard of a lumber mill on a hot summer morning.

In the nose the size of the grind requires I give a slight massage to keep it in place. The pine blast backs off enough to let the smokey tobacco of the Latakia through. An old, established tobacco shop kind of smell, the kind of smell that is embedded and will comfort the generations.

Long term, the pine holds front row, refreshing nicely after blowing. Going outdoors, either just after a pinch or quite sometime after having had a good blow, makes no difference. The fresh air revives the pine and the tobacco in a mellowed and balanced whole. Actually taken while outside in fresh air is perfection!

I'd put the nicotine at medium to high. Take care to keep this one up front as the back drip can be uncomfortable. Oh yeah, I'm liking this one with no reservation!

The first thing you will notice about this snuff is the scent. Its a very powerful fragrance. That scent is the unmistakable pine scent. Then you will open it and see how clumpy it is. The grind is very course. You will have to have a mighty sniff to get this to go in your nose. I have not had a heavier snuff prior to this. The coursness can become irritating if it gets to your throat, so be careful. Also don't let it dry out, use it fresh or the courseness will be exacerbated. I believe this is the same base snuff as the Latakia Ao1860, and you will taste some smokiness as well. So far all of de Kralingse snuffs are recommended but this is a classic flavor that you won't find many other places. In fact to me, so far in my snuffing career, this is very unique. I give this top marks for uniqueness and tradition. One recommendation is to keep it well sealed, maybe double sealed away from your other snuffs, as the scent is powerful and may permeate. What's A/P? Abies/Pinus of course! Latin for Spruce/Pine! This price refers to the 25g container. The container is good since you can pour out through a strainer or open it and pinch (if your fingers are skinny enough)
